After 5 years, H2O is finally taken to task by the FCA albeit no Fine

Over five years after Robert Smith and Cynthia O’Murchu at the FT first sounded the alarm on H2O Asset Management's illiquid investments, the Financial Conduct Authority has finally acted on the "extremely serious" regulatory breaches at the once widely lauded European investment firm:

The backstory

Today

  • Investors are getting some of their lost money back, it's notable that they have to waive litigation rights to get their payments quickly.
  • Collectif porteurs H2O, a group of over 9,000 aggrieved investors pursuing H2O through French courts, said
    • That it “considers the low level of reimbursement agreed by the FCA to be shocking”.
  • H2O says.
    • That it has since overhauled its risk management and governance to ensure that "lessons from this period are embedded in our corporate culture".
