Arrests follow corruption probe involving the European Parliament and Huawei.
13/03/2025
Belgian federal prosecutors have indeed announced the arrests of several individuals in connection with a corruption probe involving the European Parliament and Huawei.
The investigation, which included 21 searches across Brussels, Flanders, Wallonia, and Portugal, revealed that Huawei lobbyists allegedly bribed current or former EU legislators to promote the company's commercial policies in Europe.
The prosecutor's office confirmed that Huawei benefited from the alleged bribery, which was reportedly paid in cash or through excessive gifts such as food, travel expenses, and invitations to football matches.
This is a significant development in the ongoing scrutiny of Huawei's European activities.
