15/08/2024

On August 30th, Mrs Audit's talk is titled ‘Regulatory Updates, post FATF exit’. She will share her thoughts on progress and lessons learned during her talk.

By way of reminder, the critical post-Financial Action Task Force (FATF) actions include:-

1. AML/CFT Regime: Mauritius has made significant progress in improving its Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) regime. This includes addressing related technical deficiencies to meet the commitments in its action plan.

2. Action Plan Implementation: Mauritius has substantially completed its Action Plan to strengthen the effectiveness of its AML/CFT system. This significant step enabled Mauritius to be delisted from the FATF grey list.

3. Risk-Based Supervision: The action plan included implementing risk-based supervision of global businesses and the designated non-financial businesses and professions (DNFBPs) sector.

4. Access to Ownership Information: Mauritius has improved timely access to accurate basic and beneficial ownership information by competent authorities.

5. Training for Law Enforcement Agencies: Mauritius has trained law enforcement agencies to conduct parallel financial investigations.

6. Supervision of the NPO Sector: Mauritius has improved the supervision of the Non-Profit Organizations (NPO) sector.

7. Implementation of Targeted Financial Sanctions: Mauritius has improved the adequate implementation of targeted financial sanctions through outreach and supervision.
