Mauritius FCC hosts two AML workshops for local government executives

As part of its mandate to combat financial crimes, the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) last week organised two workshops for Local Authority executives.

Under Section 6 of the FCC Act 2023, the FCC is hosting these workshops to equip inspectors with a thorough understanding of their roles and responsibilities under current legislation.

The 9 and 10 April sessions

  • Aimed to build the capacity of inspectors in municipalities and district councils and provide them with the tools to detect and prevent financial crimes better in local governments.
  • Are part of the FCC's ongoing effort to strengthen governance in local communities and ensure transparent and honest management of public resources.

By providing this training, the FCC aims to ensure local inspectors are well-equipped to combat financial crimes and promote responsible management in local communities.

These workshops aimed to

  • Provide participants with Knowledge to apply the principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability to their inspection and enforcement processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of the provisions of the FCC Act 2023,
  • Share best practices to combat financial crimes,
  • Promote the values of fairness, integrity, transparency, and accountability in inspection activities and
  • Enable inspectors to effectively identify and address the risks of financial crimes while protecting the community from dishonest practices.
