Mauritius Second National Risk Assessment [2022-24] to be shared soon
It has been reported that on Friday, 28 March 2025, the Mauritian cabinet took note of the completion of the second National Risk Assessment (NRA), covering the period from January 2018 to December 2024.
The NRA process involves evaluating the scale and characteristics of money laundering and terrorist financing risks, identifying weaknesses in the country's ability to combat these threats, and assessing the effectiveness of existing measures. The findings from the NRA help inform policies and strategies to address identified risks and allocate resources more effectively.
Mauritius has been committed to strengthening its AML/CFT framework, aligning with international standards set by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). The country has made significant progress in implementing a risk-based approach to combating financial crimes, which includes enhancing coordination among relevant authorities and improving the overall effectiveness of its anti-money laundering/countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) regime.
The Second National Risk Assessment (2022-24) will provide valuable insights and guidance for Mauritius as it continues to enhance its efforts in preventing and mitigating money laundering and terrorist financing activities.
All we can do for now is wait for its publication…….Watch this space
