UK [JERSEY] Sanction Legal Services General Licence (GL) for Russia & Belarus updated.

The UK’s Legal Services General Licence (GL) for Russia & Belarus, due to expire on 28 October 2024
The Russia & Belarus Legal Services General Licence above will be replaced with the new General Licence INT/2024/5334756.
The new GL contains the following fundamental changes from the current GL:
- Expands the definition of a law firm and applies the GL financial limit “per law firm”;
- Includes a definition of a non-UK bank account.
- Increases the amount of professional legal fees that can be paid from £500k to £2m;
- Increases the expenses that can be paid to £200k or 10% of the legal fees payable, whichever is the lower; and
- Payments can be made directly to a non-UK bank account, subject to certain conditions.
The previous licence expires at 23:59 on 28 October 2024. The new licence takes effect from 00:01 on 29 October 2024 and will expire in April 2025.
