Background
- The UK government sanctioned Albert Kashafovich Shigabutdinov due to his involvement in supporting the Russian government and its military efforts. Specifically, Shigabutdinov, along with other oligarchs, has been accused of enabling President Putin to mobilise Russian industries to support the military. As a result, he faces travel bans, asset freezes, and transport sanctions.

- Albert Kashafovich Shigabutdinov is a prominent Russian businessman known for his significant contributions to the petrochemical industry. He was the co-owner and General Director of the TAIF Group, a large regional holding company with assets in the Republic of Tatarstan.
- In 2021, TAIF merged with Sibur, creating one of the largest petrochemical companies globally.
